CHAM TSE LING NEWS

The centres aim is to provide a varied and enjoyable calendar of events for members and non-members alike. We aim to provide a wholesome environment conducive to spiritual development tailored to suit a variety of needs.

Study programmes, meditation classes, pujas and social events are arranged each month in both Preston and Blackpool. We have several regular teachers who come each year as often as possible.

The main focus of study is the Lam Rim; Je Tsong Khapa's exposition of the Graduated Path to Enlightenment. Our eventual aim is to have a centre and residential teacher by 2003, which would offer the potential of much, much more!

All meetings are open to the public and you do not need to be a member to participate.

Each week we receive, read or listen to teachings concentrating on Lam Rim ( with lively discussions sometimes!), followed by meditations relevant to the topic of study.

Anyone is welcome to join us, at either group, at any time!

NEWS

In May and June, 2001, Cham Tse Ling was honoured to have Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Tegchog and Venerable Steve Carlier (his translator!), stay with them for over 5 weeks. Whilst Genla was here he gave many teachings related to Lam Rim such as; Love and Compassion, The Benefits of Cultivating Bodhicitta, Death and the Bardo State, Karma, Rebirth and Imprints and Exchanging Self and Others......to name but a few!

These teachings were open to the public and held at our weekly meetings in both Preston and Blackpool. Genla is an inspiring and devoted teacher and we were extremely privileged to receive such extensive teachings. Whilst here, he also gave children's blessings, a wedding blessing, Precepts and Lay Vows and learned advice to all members.

It was an intensive period for Genla, Steve and all who participated. A true treasure that will leave positive imprints in all who attended. It is hoped and prayed for that Genla will return to Cham Tse Ling at some near future date; to bless, inspire and lead us with his wonderful teachings. Watch this space!

May all sentient beings have happiness and its causes.
May all sentient beings be free from suffering and its causes.

BOOK SHOP

The “mobile shop” now run by Joyce Palin, will soon be stocked with new books, which will be available at the Public Talk. In addition a small number of books are available to lend for Cham Tse Ling members. “We hope to build up a stock of Basic Buddhist books suitable for all, and if anyone has any particular book they require, we should be able to get a copy. Just let me know!” said Joyce!
